This game is a personal project that I have been developing for some time. The inspiration for this board game stems from the idea that our society is not built to allow for the rehabilitation of criminals. Once they are out of prison, they will soon enough feel the challenges of the outside world are far more daunting than the ones faced in prison, even though they supposedly
have regained their freedom.
Character Game Pieces
Each player can choose to play as one of the following six characters, each with a varying set of four skills that come into play
during the game.
Item Cards
Items are scattered throughout the map tiles. Players can collect items and use them to avoid sticky situations when events come into play.
Event Cards
Events are peppered throughout the game on the map tiles. Once a player lands on an event, which is symbolised by a handprint, the player must read out loud the event, roll the number of dice corresponding to the type of roll they must make and see if they can continue unscathed by unwanted criminal activity.
Game Testing
Since the game is still in a preliminary testing phase in order to work out mechanics, it is important that testing takes place.
R-E-H-A-B Map Tiles
Shuffled in between the map tiles are the R-E-H-A-B tiles. Players must collect the five letters corresponding to the word rehab before they can advance further to the mall, where they can try to apply for a minimum wage job so you get your parole officer off your back with your newly minted proof of employment.
